Do I need to open ports on my router? When reading on all the documentation all the different IP addresses are still daunting to me so maybe I made a mistake there.

I see people mention hairpin connections and I cant remember doing anything with my router when I was on Ubuntu 18. I tried turning off the firewall or setting some rules in the ubuntu firewall program but this didn't help. When I go to 0.0.0.0 :9000 I get a connection but for the challenge I think I need to go public. It keeps listening on 0.0.0.0 even if I would give an IP address as an argument before the port number. This is the first time I'm trying this on Ubuntu 20.04 and I cant seem to get this simple task working: Some time ago I used netcat for this, nc -lnvp ,like nc -lnvp 9000. For this I need to listen on a port for the reverse shell to connect to. Im trying to get a reverse shell from a wordpress website for a CTF challenge ( link). public IP addresses or hostnames, account numbers, email addresses) before posting!ĭoes this sidebar need an addition or correction?
